Debra Canner is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Akamai. Ms. Canner oversees all human resource functions for Akamai worldwide. Her responsibilities include both strategic and operational leadership for human resource systems, organizational development and workforce planning, performance management, employee development, and compensation and benefits programs to assure the attraction, retention and development of world-class talent in support of Akamai's strategic plan.
Ms. Canner brings more than 20 years of experience in managing change and growth, improving productivity and creating results-oriented programs.
Prior to Akamai, Ms. Canner served as Vice President of Human Resources for the Joslin Diabetes Center where she rebuilt the HR infrastructure and programs needed to support the non-profit institution and global leader in diabetes research, care and education.
As Vice President of Human Resources for Haemonetics Corporation, Ms. Canner collaborated, developed and facilitated processes needed to support a high-paced growth strategy. She also created a global leadership program where high potential employees were identified and offered new leadership roles following a major reorganization.
Prior to Haemonetics, Ms. Canner worked at Genzyme Corporation, starting as Manager, Human Resources and advancing to Vice President of Human Resources, directing worldwide operations for HR.
Ms. Canner started her career in high technology companies, working in a variety of compensation and benefits roles. She holds a B.A. degree in Legal Studies and Counseling from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
