Akamai Appoints Jan Hier-King of Charles Schwab & Company to Its Board of Advisors
CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts, August 18, 1999 -- Akamai Technologies, which operates a global Internet content delivery service that speeds up Web performance, announced today the appointment of Jan Hier-King to its Board of Advisors. Currently, Charles Schwab & Co.'s enterprise technology head of electronic brokerage, Ms. Hier-King joins Akamai's advisory board consisting of influential members of the Internet, networking, science and entertainment industries.
As the head of Enterprise Technology of Charles Schwab's Electronic Brokerage, Jan Hier-King is responsible for the success of www.schwab.com, the leading online brokerage Web site, serving over 2.8 million online accounts holding $251 billion in customer assets. She also led the initial start-up of the technology organization supporting the Institutional business at Schwab. This group engineered the development of online trading and quotes service via Schwab's brokerage systems.
