Akamai strikes strategic partnerships with more than 25 leading iBuilders, as well as encoding, digital media and production companies, to offer end-to-end streaming media services

CAMBRIDGE, MA, June 20, 2000 - Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), the foremost provider of global, high-performance services for the delivery of Internet content, streaming media, and applications, today announced a new partner program designed to enhance the Web services of iBuilders, encoding businesses, production vendors, and other companies that specialize in broadband and streaming media solutions. With the introduction of Akamai's new Streaming Partnership Program, interactive media customers can take advantage of best-of-breed streaming media solutions from Akamai and a host of leading vendors.

Akamai's Streaming Partnership Program currently includes more than 25 leading businesses that provide a variety of Web and interactive media services. These companies have joined Akamai's Streaming Partnership Program to enhance their own suite of offerings by providing Akamai's high-performance streaming media services and applications. By adding Akamai's streaming media services to their offerings, Akamai's Streaming Partners can provide their customers high-quality, reliable and scalable streaming media services that deliver broadcast-quality experiences for Internet end users. In addition to Akamai's current Streaming Partners, there are nearly 50 additional companies that are affiliated through Akamai's recent acquisitions who will also be eligible for conversion into the new Akamai program.

Akamai Streaming Providers including 5B Technologies, EncodeThis!, Loudeye, The Jack Morton Company, and Virage, can offer a robust end-to-end solution for the creation and delivery of streaming media, providing their customers an even higher level of quality, performance, and reliability.

Akamai's Streaming Alliance Partners can enhance their own interactive media products and services by promoting Akamai's streaming media services and applications to their customers. The powerful combination of the alliance partner's own offerings with Akamai's services will allow content providers to ensure high-quality, reliable streaming media delivery and a better overall experience for their customers. Akamai's Streaming Alliance Partners include 21st Century Media, AGENCY.COM, AthenaOnline, AudioCast, Brainfood Media, BURN World-Wide, CIRCA New Media, CloudSystems, DES, Emerald City Media, eXstream Solutions, Fusebox, itvmedia.com, lucidCircus, RAPP Digital, Rare Medium, Razorfish, Real Media, Skyways Communications, Three Squared, Wildform, and Zooropa.
