Akamai and KPNQwest Sign Agreement to Enhance Internet Experience for European Businesses
As outlined in the agreement, KPNQwest has committed to resell Akamai's Internet content delivery services throughout Europe as part of its value-added offerings to its customers requiring access to content beyond the reach of KPNQwest's European footprint. Akamai's services bring measurably greater speed, performance, and reliability by delivering rich content from Akamai's globally distributed network of thousands of edge servers located close to Internet end users. Akamai's intelligent solution for optimizing the delivery of all forms of content enables KPNQwest to ensure significantly faster, more reliable, and higher performance end-user experiences. Akamai's rich platform of services also ensures that KPNQwest customers can retrieve data on the use of their web-based services.
Julf Helsingius, Chief Technology Officer of KPNQwest, said: "We selected Akamai because it offers a robust and expansive global network for delivering bandwidth-rich content. Akamai is an important contributor to our mission of deploying the most extensive, facilities based, content distribution network in Europe. KPNQwest's extensive end-to-end network combined with Akamai's intelligent services and proven expertise in content delivery, creates a scalable platform for the deployment of high value, revenue-generating network services."
"KPNQwest's high-quality network is critical to Akamai's success in Europe," said Danny Lewin, Chief Technology Officer, Akamai. "This strategic relationship is going to help redefine the Internet experience for European content providers and their end users, and we look forward to developing additional value added services together with KPNQwest."
"This is another sign of the Internet's incredible growth in Europe," said Wolfgang Staehle, President, Akamai Europe. "Akamai's highly successful program in the U.S. for enhancing Web performance is quickly translating to Europe and across the globe. This relationship joins two leaders in their space, resulting in a best-of-breed solution for European e-Businesses."
