Cambridge, MA - November 3, 2000 - Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), the leading Content Delivery Service Provider (CDSP), and Telefónica DataCorp, the Telefónica (NYSE: TEF) subsidiary which provides global telecommunications services, have entered into a strategic relationship to enhance the Internet experience for Latin American, European and United States businesses. Telefónica Data will provide the full suite of Akamai's industry-leading content delivery services as a key component of its content distribution strategy.

As one of the largest e-business data communications companies in Latin America, Telefónica Data will add access to Akamai's content delivery capabilities as part of its portfolio of value-added Internet services for customers, delivered over Telefónica Data's International Network. In addition, Telefónica Data's hosting clients and other content providers in Latin America and Europe will be able to deliver their content with greater speed and reliability worldwide through Telefónica Data Content Distribution solutions powered by Akamai.
