Combined Offering Will Bring Powerful New Ways for Customers to Capitalize on Content Assets

Providence, RI and Cambridge, MA - March 7, 2001 -- Context Media, Inc., the leader in providing infrastructure solutions for managing the sharing, distribution, and syndication of digital media assets, and Akamai Technologies, Inc., (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading Content Delivery Service Provider (CDSP), today announced an alliance to bring customers new approaches to capitalize on their content assets.

Under the agreement, Context Media will become a provider of Akamai's content and streaming media delivery services. Context Media's solutions change the way digital content is shared, syndicated, and authored, internet-wide. The Context Media Interchange PlatformTM offers a technology infrastructure to help companies extend their content reach, expand their brand awareness, and create new revenue opportunities with their content assets. Akamai's FreeFlowSM and FreeFlowSM Streaming Services will complement the Context Media Interchange Platform by providing high-performance, reliable delivery of Context Media's customers' shared content. Customers of Context Media will have access to consolidated usage statistics from Akamai's real-time and historical reporting tools and the Interchange Platform.

In addition, Context Media will become an Akamai preferred solution partner for rich media content syndication, and plans to integrate access to Akamai's services through its Interchange Platform. The companies will also engage in a variety of co-marketing activities.

"Consistent with our strategy of partnering with best-of-breed companies, our new relationship with Akamai will enable us to offer our customers the opportunity to deliver richer media experiences to end users," said Dan Harple, Context Media President and CEO.

"Context Media has built a robust and innovative platform that benefits from Akamai's powerful content delivery infrastructure," said Robert Hughes, director, channel programs, Akamai. "We're looking forward to uniting our complementary technologies and approaches to help online businesses be more successful."

The Context Media Interchange Platform allows companies to draw on the strengths of installed legacy content and asset management systems to publish and share their content across all relevant platforms, create new business models, and generate new sources of revenue from high-value content assets.

Akamai's FreeFlow and FreeFlow Streaming Services improve Web site performance and reliability by delivering rich Web content and streaming media from Akamai's globally distributed network of 8,000 servers in 55 countries. Both services are built upon the Company's EdgeAdvantageSM platform that uses sophisticated algorithms to monitor the Internet on a real-time basis, understand the location of the requesting user, and make intelligent decisions about the best and most efficient Akamai edge server from which to deliver content to the end user.
