Akamai Announces Management Changes
CAMBRIDGE, MA- April 4, 2001 - Akamai Technologies, Inc., the leading Content Delivery Service Provider (CDSP), today reported changes to its senior management team.
Over the past three months, several additions have been made to strengthen Akamai's senior management organization. As previously announced, Chris Schoettle, formerly President of Lucent's Broadband Access Business Unit, joined Akamai as Chief Operating Officer. In addition, Michael Campbell joined Akamai as Vice President, Direct Sales. Most recently, Campbell was Vice President, Western Region Global Sales, at UUNET. Michael Quinn joined Akamai as General Manager, Enterprise Sales. Most recently, Quinn was Vice President, Global Sales Engineering, at UUNET.
Earl Galleher, Executive Vice President, is departing. According to Akamai Chairman and CEO George Conrades, "Earl was instrumental in building the sales engine that took us from pre-revenue in early 1999 to nearly $90 million in 2000, our first full year of commercial operation. In 2000, Earl became our Executive Vice President to streamline operations in areas such as sales, international expansion, service delivery and product management. With Earl leaving to pursue other interests, we have initiated a search for a replacement with experience in the enterprise market. In the meantime, I'm excited about working directly with Akamai's senior sales managers, and look forward to offering my nearly 40 years of enterprise marketing and sales experience to this hard-charging team."
Reporting to Conrades, in addition to sales and support, are Akamai President Paul Sagan, CFO Timothy Weller, and Schoettle.
