Munich, August 2, 2001 - Akamai Technologies GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the leading provider of distributed application and content delivery services will present at the IBC (International Broadcasting Convention) September 14 - 18, 2001, in Amsterdam, it's whole website delivery service EdgeSuiteSM, the new SiteWise tool for website analysis, and Akamai's Streaming Services. Akamai is located in Hall 12, Booth 319. KPNQwest, the leading facilities-based, pan-European provider of data-centric services based on Internet Protocol (IP), and reseller of Akamai's services in Europe, will be also present at the Akamai booth.

EdgeSuite
Akamai's EdgeSuite offering, a complete suite of managed Internet infrastructure services, allows Web sites to reap the performance, scalability, and reliability benefits of content delivery across an entire Web site, including static and dynamic content, embedded objects, streaming media, and HTML. Leveraging Akamai's global network, EdgeSuite enables the generation and delivery of dynamic content by constructing Web pages from component pieces that can be targeted and delivered from optimal locations for each end user. Given today's challenged IT budgets, EdgeSuite allows Web-assisted and Web-dependent businesses to outsource critical Web infrastructure to Akamai, realizing significant cost savings and measurably improving performance and reliability at the same time.

ESI (Edge Side Includes)
Edge Side Includes (ESI) is a simple mark-up language used to define Web page fragments for dynamic assembly and delivery of Web applications at the network edge. Unique to ESI is a mechanism for managing content transparently across Application Server solutions, Content Infrastructure, Content Management Systems and CDNs. As a result, ESI enables companies to develop Web applications once and choose at deployment time where the application should be assembled - on the application server, the content infrastructure, the content management system or the content delivery network, thus reducing complexity, development time and deployment costs.

Akamai's Streaming Services
With solutions such as Akamai's streaming delivery offering, customers can reach geographically dispersed audiences efficiently and cost effectively, while leveraging Akamai's globally distributed platform for high-performance, scalable, and reliable delivery of streaming media. These factors are of critical importance for the successful use of streaming media for both on-demand and live events.

SiteWise
SiteWise is a managed Web site reporting and analysis service that allows content providers to quickly access a wealth of information about Web site usage, its users, and their behaviour. This information can help to make strategic decisions in order to meet the online business goals. SiteWise provides detailed analysis data such as: Transactional analysis including revenue tracking, sales trends, and campaign management - Visitor analysis including first time visitors, returning visitors and unique visitors - Demographic analysis to determine the languages, countries, and time zones of your visitors - Activity analysis to determine your visitor's top browsing hours, top paths, and to analyze page views by uniquely defined content groups - Page View analysis to determine your most requested pages, the top entry and exit pages, and the number of page views per visitor.
