Akamai to optimize performance and minimize infrastructure requirements for enhanced, content-rich Six Flags site
Cambridge, MA - August 15, 2001 - Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), the leading provider of distributed application and content delivery services, today announced that Six Flags, Inc., the world's largest regional theme park company, has deployed the Akamai EdgeSuiteSM service to enable top performance and reliability of its Web operations on a global scale.Six Flags is revamping its multimedia, content-rich Web site (www.sixflags.com) in conjunction with the company's 40th anniversary and subsequent online marketing campaigns. The site includes information about park promotions and attractions, and future enhancements will enable e-commerce and additional interactivity. The Akamai EdgeSuite service off-loads a significant portion of the site's rich content and distributes the load via Akamai's globally distributed network, providing greater performance for end users while simplifying the intricacies of Six Flags' Web infrastructure.
