BOSTON and CAMBRIDGE, MA - October 9, 2001 - CCBN (www.ccbn.com), the leading provider of Internet-based shareholder communications services, and Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), the leading provider of outsourced e-business infrastructure services and software, today announced the implementation of the Akamai EdgeSuiteSM service across more than 2,000 CCBN-hosted investor relations sites to provide massive scalability, reliability, and performance of Web-based financial communications.

"It's critical to have the proper infrastructure in place to support the timely, reliable delivery of corporate news and information to our stakeholders worldwide," said Karen Warren, senior vice president of investor relations, Hasbro, Inc. - whose investor relations site is managed by CCBN. "With the heightened volume of visitors we see during earnings season, we're thrilled to have the added site insurance that Akamai's EdgeSuite service provides."

CCBN enables direct communications between public companies and the investment community, providing in-depth shareholder information through interactive, multimedia solutions. In addition to supporting several thousand webcasts for CCBN each quarter, Akamai will now play a central role in cost-effectively supporting the Web infrastructure requirements of CCBN's customers and providing the performance benefits of whole site delivery from the Internet's edge.

"As more and more global, public corporations embrace the Internet for the efficient dissemination of financial information, CCBN remains committed to fulfilling the expectations of both corporations and their investors for a reliable online experience," said Andy Augustine, chief technology officer, CCBN. "We've witnessed the benefits of leveraging Akamai's globally distributed network of servers for high-performance webcasting, and are excited to add the benefits of Akamai EdgeSuite to ensure the same level of performance across all the content comprising our customers' investor relations sites."

"As a leader in serving the financial community, CCBN has effectively taken advantage of the Internet's efficiencies of scale and worldwide scope to power some of the most highly-trafficked investor relations sites," said Michael Ruffolo, executive vice president, Akamai. "By standardizing these sites on the Akamai EdgeSuite service, CCBN is adding yet another level of value that serves as a true competitive advantage."

The Akamai EdgeSuite service is an integrated set of functionalities designed to reduce Internet infrastructure costs and complexities by extending the performance, scalability, and reliability benefits of content delivery across an entire web site. Akamai EdgeSuite service enables the generation and delivery of dynamic content by constructing Web pages from component pieces that can be targeted and delivered from locations optimized for each end user. Given today's challenged IT budgets, the EdgeSuite service allows businesses to outsource critical Web infrastructure to Akamai, realizing significant cost savings and measurably improving performance and reliability at the same time.
