Akamai EdgeSuite Selected by All Nippon Airways (ANA), One of Japan's Leading Commercial Airlines
CAMBRIDGE, MA and TOKYO, JAPAN - January 23, 2002 - Akamai Technologies Japan K.K. today announced that, as of January 2002, All Nippon Airways Corporation, Ltd., one of Japan's premier airlines, has become the first airline in Japan to officially deploy the Akamai EdgeSuiteSM service to support its website (www.ana.co.jp).
The Akamai EdgeSuite offering will allow ANA to maintain timely response to Web page visitors even in peak traffic situations, and eliminate the need for constant system upgrades. "At ANA, there are some issues that we still have to deal with in response to peak traffic situations, such as the processing power of our host computer. However, by implementing EdgeSuite, we believe that we have dealt decisively with our first mile and Web server bottleneck problems," said ANA Information Technology Services Staff Director Tsutomu Aoyagi.
The Akamai EdgeSuite service is an integrated set of functionalities designed to reduce Internet infrastructure costs and complexities by off-loading all the elements of an enterprise's Web presence for generation and delivery from Akamai's global platform. The Akamai EdgeSuite service dynamically assembles content at the Internet's edge by constructing Web pages from component pieces that can be targeted and delivered from locations optimized for each end user. Given today's challenged IT budgets, the EdgeSuite service allows businesses to outsource critical Web infrastructure to Akamai, realizing significant cost savings and measurably improving performance and reliability at the same time.
