Akamai SiteWiseSM service chosen by more than 50 companies, including Logitech, Network Associates, and Peapod, Inc.

Cambridge, MA - February 26, 2002 - Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), a leading provider of secure, outsourced e-business infrastructure services and software, today announced the rapid market response to its SiteWiseSM service for comprehensive, outsourced Web analytics, with more than 50 customers, including multiple Fortune 500 companies, acquired since the service's launch in May 2001. The SiteWise service combines the expertise of WebTrends Web analytics by NetIQ WebTrends Live, the real-time hosted Web analytics solution by NetIQ, with Akamai's outsourced approach to managing Web infrastructure, creating a unique and cost-efficient solution for evaluating and shaping a company's e-business initiatives.

Current economic conditions have increased the importance for enterprises to understand the value of their Web-based marketing and e-commerce efforts. As an alternative to costly, complex software products, the SiteWise service provides an outsourced approach to putting critical measurement data in the hands of marketing executives and other business managers to assess the impact of their integrated marketing campaigns, among other Web initiatives. According to Forrester Research, 60% of companies will migrate towards an outsourced solution for Web analytics by 2003 versus installing and maintaining products in-house.

"As we increasingly leverage the Internet to grow our business and attract and retain customers, it's critical that we have the ability to measure our site's effectiveness in a timely, reliable manner," said Thomas Parkinson, chief technology officer and senior vice president, Peapod, Inc. - the nation's leading Internet grocer. "Akamai has given us a view into customer usage patterns and the site's overall impact, which in turn allows us to better tailor content and increase revenues."

"During this time of smarter IT spending, enterprises require a demonstrable ROI from their online initiatives, and Akamai is uniquely suited to offer this capability as part of a comprehensive e-business infrastructure solution," said Michael Ruffolo, executive vice president, global sales, services, and marketing, Akamai. "The SiteWise service is in demand by many of today's top e-businesses, and continues to be an area for significant growth as more and more companies recognize the value of outsourcing their Web analytics needs."

Available independently or as part of the Akamai EdgeSuiteSM set of services, the SiteWise service reflects Akamai's efforts to align with best-of-breed technology providers to effectively serve the enterprise market. As an outsourced solution, SiteWise is simple to implement and frees the customer from purchasing, maintaining, and housing hardware and software, and from processing large log files. The service offers more than one hundred comprehensive reports that provide browser-side insight into the behavior and preferences of Web site visitors, all without compromising end user privacy. SiteWise summarizes key information to help business managers draw conclusions about actions that must be taken to improve both Web performance and online marketing strategies. In addition, customers can create profiles and filters to specify what data to include in reports.
