Akamai Announces Expanded Relationship with America Online

America Online selects Akamai as a scalable extension to its Web infrastructure; Agreement includes broadening of Akamai's footprint within AOL's global network

The agreement between Akamai and America Online consists of the following components:
- AOL and its affiliate properties will be able to more easily take advantage of a range of Akamai's services.
- Akamai will broadly deploy its edge servers within AOL's backbone network worldwide. In addition, these Akamai servers will also act as a private content delivery network (PCDN) for AOL members. In concert with AOL's existing proprietary technologies, this PCDN will further speed delivery of AOL's popular content to its users through Akamai's extended global reach.
