Akamai to add WebTrends Reporting Center, WebTrends Intelligence Suite and Data Collection Server to its e-Business Infrastructure Extension Services Portfolio

CAMBRIDGE, MA and SAN JOSE, CA - December 10, 2002 - Akamai Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM), a provider of products and services that enable the world's leading enterprises and government agencies to extend and control their e-business infrastructure, and NetIQ Corporation (Nasdaq: NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems Management, Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, today announced an expanded partnership designed to meet the growing demand for comprehensive, Web analytics software and services.

The expanded agreement enables Akamai to broaden its existing SiteWiseSM Web analysis offering, a hosted service powered by WebTrends Live, by adding WebTrends software products to their portfolio including WebTrends Reporting Center, WebTrends Intelligence Suite and Data Collection Server. As a result, Akamai customers can choose between a hosted service or a software solution, thus enabling the flexibility and control to utilize Akamai as an extension to their Web analysis requirements, or to bring the data analysis in-house, as their business needs change. By taking advantage of WebTrends Web analytics, customers will gain insight into the behavioral patterns of their Web site visitors to drive more intelligent business decisions and ultimately achieve competitive advantage.

"Having built our solutions on enabling business professionals to meet in real-time with anyone around the world using only a web browser and a phone, it has become vital for us to analyze and measure how our tools and services are being used by our clients," said Janice V. Kapner, senior director, Public Relations, Branding & Demand Generation at PlaceWare. "As a customer of Akamai's, we are benefiting from the selection of the best-of-breed WebTrends software, including Reporting Center, WebTrends Intelligence Suite and Data Collection Server, to enable us to be more proactive in meeting the needs of our prospects and current customers."

"Companies need to know more about how their Web site is being utilized in order to establish demonstrable ROI from their online initiatives. We chose to work with NetIQ because of their quality Web analytics products, and their unique position in the market as the only provider of both software and hosted services," said Mark Vargo, vice president, Global Marketing, at Akamai. "The SiteWise service has been a strategic offering that has enabled us to show the value of those solutions core to our business. We can now better meet the unique needs of each of our individual customers by offering these benefits in software solutions as well."

As an existing OEM partner with NetIQ since March 2001, Akamai has successfully delivered SiteWise to leading businesses worldwide, such as Apple, The Bombay Company, Inc., Frederick's of Hollywood, and Logitech. Available independently, or as part of Akamai's flagship EdgeSuiteSM offering, the success of SiteWise demonstrates Akamai's ability to align with best-of-breed technology providers to effectively serve the enterprise market. The combination of Akamai's globally-distributed platform and WebTrends software products and services enable customers to extend their infrastructure while maintaining control of their Web site through access to the critical data that decision makers need to assess the impact of their online initiatives.

"Web-site analysis grew more than 40% last year," IDC Analyst Bob Blumstein states. "WebTrends has ridden that growth by offering a breadth of products from entry level to advanced, including both software and hosted services, that reinforce its brand. This breadth of products will help Akamai to offer more complete Web solutions."

"The combined solution of WebTrends and Akamai products and services enables customers to build and control a powerful and robust e-business infrastructure and to regularly analyze and improve Web site performance. We're excited that Akamai continues to select WebTrends products and services as their Web analytics offering," said Dan Meub, senior vice president and general manager of the WebTrends Business Unit at NetIQ. "We look forward to extending and expanding upon our existing partnership with Akamai."
