CBC.ca teams with Akamai for exclusive live video webcast of Rolling Stones-SARS benefit concert
CBC.ca has secured exclusive worldwide rights to broadcast The Rolling Stones-SARS benefit concert over the Web at www.cbc.ca/torontorocks, and has selected Akamai as the exclusive streaming delivery provider for the day-long concert. Besides headliners The Rolling Stones, performers include AC/DC, Rush, The Guess Who, Kathleen Edwards, The Isley Brothers, Blue Rodeo, The Tea Party, Justin Timberlake and The Have Love Will Travel Revue, featuring James Belushi and concert host Dan Aykroyd.
Concert promoters expect to attract well over 400,000 attendees to Downsview Park in Toronto, a former airbase, making it one of the largest one-day ticketed events in North American history. Money raised during the event will be used to benefit SARS-related charities.

The live Webcast will be available in today's leading streaming formats, in both high- and low-bandwidth versions, at cbc.ca/torontorocks.
Utilizing Akamai's global network of over 14,000 servers, CBC.ca will have the scalability on demand to support unrivaled numbers of concurrent streams to a worldwide audience, as well as the control to manage usage in a cost-effective manner. Akamai's integrated reporting tools will provide CBC.ca with real-time business intelligence to effectively measure the success of this online programming.
