Akamai Appoints Lisa Arthur as Chief Marketing Officer
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - June 28, 2004 - Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader of distributed computing solutions and services, today announced that Lisa Arthur has been named Chief Marketing Officer, effective today. With more than twenty years of marketing and communications experience, Ms. Arthur will report to George Conrades, Akamai chairman and CEO, and will be responsible for Akamai's marketing strategy and operations, including product marketing, channel marketing, marketing communications, programs and services, and sales training.
"Lisa's impressive track record and unique ability to blend marketing creativity and strategy with technical expertise will be very important as Akamai enters new and expanding markets for on-demand distributed computing solutions," Conrades said. "We are looking forward to Lisa playing a central role in developing and marketing our offerings."
Most recently, Ms. Arthur served as Vice President, On Demand & Services Marketing at Oracle Corporation. Ms. Arthur was responsible for global marketing of Oracle's fastest growing business, Oracle On Demand, as well as Support, Consulting, and Education Services, representing more than $6 billion in revenue. Her responsibilities included developing global marketing strategies, positioning, awareness, and demand creation.
Ms. Arthur also has served as Vice President, Global CRM Product Marketing at Oracle, and was responsible for developing and orchestrating product marketing strategies for Oracle's CRM business. In this role, she launched Oracle's entry into the CRM market. She served as a global spokesperson and industry domain expert on CRM strategies, speaking to marketing and sales executives around the world. Ms. Arthur also launched Oracle's first online applications business, oracle.sales.com, as well as four product introductions and a global thought leadership initiative that reached more than 500,000 people.

Prior to her role at Oracle, Ms. Arthur was Vice President of Marketing at Exact Software (formerly Macola Software), a provider of E-Business software for small to midsize businesses. She was responsible for managing and directing global marketing, including product marketing, strategic programs, lead generation, corporate communications, advertising and strategic alliances. Ms. Arthur has also held diverse marketing roles for companies in various industries, in addition to serving on the board of directors for Aqua Tech Environmental Labs.
Ms. Arthur holds a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University.
