Akamai's Robert W. Hughes Promoted to Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Services
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - July 27, 2004 - Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM), the global leader of distributed computing solutions and services, today announced the promotion of Robert W. Hughes from Vice President to Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Services. As part of Akamai's senior management team, Hughes is responsible for Akamai's worldwide sales, channels, technical consulting, and professional services organizations, ensuring that all sales and go-to-market efforts are aligned with strategic corporate growth initiatives.

Akamai also announced today the promotion of Jon Mellon to Vice President, North America Sales. In this capacity, Mellon, reporting to Hughes, will manage Akamai's sales team responsible for customer growth and new account acquisition throughout North America and Canada. Mellon joined Akamai in 2002 and has been a key leader in the Company's Western Division.
