AUDI AG testimonial

When you build some of the fastest, most reliable cars on the planet, poor Web site performance sends an unacceptable message about your brand. AUDI AG recognized that, in order to convey the right message to a sophisticated global customer base, it needed a site that not only brought the quality of its cars to life, but also did it without forcing the end user to endure long download times or spotty availability. In particular, prospective buyers in AUDI AG’s core markets—the United States, Latin America and Asia—experienced very slow download times, largely as a result of AUDI AG’s decision to host its site locally in Germany.

Using Akamai to meet its performance and availability goals was a logical choice for AUDI AG, given that the alternative would have involved building out a series of site hosting centers in North America, South America and Asia. In initial testing, using Akamai reduced loading times for Web pages accessed in Korea by almost 90 percent. Beginning with that success, the company now relies on Akamai to handle more than 80 percent if its total Web traffic, from enhanced model configurators to product launches and promotional microsites, confident in Akamai’s ability to maintain performance under any load generated by global advertising and events. Most recently, Akamai partnered with AUDI AG to deploy a worldwide content management system (CMS) for AUDI AG’s worldwide dealer network. The result? A relationship that’s all about performance—just like AUDI AG itself.

"AUDI AG views Akamai as a scalable extension to the infrastructure of our internal Web center and offers us a quality of Web performance which we would not be able to achieve by our own means."
